What do we do?

Vertaalbureau Bothof does not specialise in any one particular area. Our network of translators is so extensive that we’re able to cover any combination of languages and any discipline area. Whether you’re looking for an accurate legal translation or a ‘creative’ translation of a brochure, Vertaalbureau Bothof can do it.

Needless to say, we keep a close eye on what’s happening in the world in order to identify ways of making our service even more efficient and comprehensive. In recent years, for example, we’ve become increasingly skilled at translating web sites.
Translating HTML files requires a special approach – one that we’re now very expert at!

We’ve also studied the problems specific to the translation of technical manuals in considerable detail. The need for consistency between different editions makes accurate terminology management during translation an absolute ‘must’. The Computer Aided Translation tools and advanced terminology management system we use enable us to guarantee that consistency.

There may be times when you have texts from different sources that need transforming into a coherent whole that reads well. We can do this for you too (in most European languages, not just in Dutch), because we have copywriters on hand as well as translators, who are experts at producing concise summaries of documents of any length. An added advantage is having a native speaker ensure that the right choice of words in the required language makes your text as impressive as possible!

If you have documents you’ve written yourself in Dutch or another language, our translators can dot the i’s and cross the t’s for you when it comes to spelling and grammar. We can, of course, also adapt texts stylistically or rewrite them.

When speed is of the essence and you want to know the gist of a text ‘by yesterday’, or you’re not interested in a full translation, then a summary may be the answer. Professional translators can discuss the document with you or provide a quick outline of its key points.

You can also come to us, of course, when you want to engage an interpreter – for a conference, perhaps, or for official discussions (when a legal deed is executed, for example). More about this under interpreting services.
